Braided bread with spinach & Beemster Belegen

Drinks dish. 4 persons. Preparation 20 min. + 70 min. oven time

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 100 g spinach
  • 180 g Beemster Belegen 48+
  • 15 g fresh flat parsley
  • 1 roll of pizza dough (refrigerated fresh, without tomato sauce)

Kitchen Stuff

  • hand blender with tall cup
  • rolling pin
  • cake pan (30 cm, greased)

Prepare

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Finely chop the garlic. Heat the olive oil in a wok or frying pan and sauté the garlic for 1 min over medium-high heat. Add the spinach in sections and allow to shrink. Drain and let cool in a colander for 5 min. Meanwhile, grate the cheese.
  2. Coarsely chop the parsley. Using the back of a spoon, squeeze as much moisture out of the spinach as possible. Place the spinach with the garlic in the high cup of the hand blender and add the parsley, cheese and 2 tbsp. water. Purée with the hand blender until smooth. Season to taste with pepper.
  3. Using a rolling pin, roll out the pizza dough into an approximate 30 x 40 cm piece. Spread the spinach-cheese mixture evenly over the dough, but keep 2 cm from the edges.
  4. Roll up the dough from the long side.Cut the roll in half lengthwise with a sharp knife, so that you have two halves in which you can see all the layers. From the top, twist the strips of dough around each other to form a "braid. Press the ends together.
  5. Carefully place the braided bread in the greased cake pan and bake in the center of the oven for about 70 min. until done. Cover if necessary after 40 min if the bread gets too dark.

Serving tip
Delicious with a lick of butter.
