Farmer portraits

Farmer portraits

Our farmers not only take care of their cows, but they do much more besides! Therefore, in December 2019, we took some great portraits on three farms. Read more about them below.

Farmer Dennis
This is farmer Dennis.
But not right now.
Because farmer Dennis is also in the fire department.
The volunteer fire department, to be exact.
After all, even a farmer does more than milk cows for society.
Sometimes firefighter Dennis gets an early notification.
A starting fire, a cat in the tree.
Yes, even a cow in a ditch once.
Well, then he was really just farmer Dennis again.

Care farm in Oterleek
What could be more fun than a farm? A care farm.
Like this care farm in Oterleek.
Here the farmer is committed to helping people who are in danger of falling by the wayside elsewhere.
You learn about life on the farm.
Weeding the vegetable garden. Milking cows. Getting your tractor diploma.
Yet there is one lesson for which there is no diploma:
the belief in one's own abilities.

Farmer Kramer
Reclamation.
Reclaiming land where there used to be water.
The Netherlands has become famous for it.
But did you know that nowadays we also bring water back to the land?
Like here, at farmer Kramer.
He literally pumps water into his meadow when there is a drought.
In this way he ensures that the peat soil does not sink any further.
And the beautiful peat meadow landscape is preserved for cows and meadow birds.
So that the Kramer family can continue to do what they have been doing for generations.
