The cheese market in Alkmaar
Thousands of visitors from all over the world come specially to Alkmaar for the cheese market. It is therefore a special spectacle with a square full of cheese and lugging cheese carriers. At the cheese market plenty of Beemster® cheeses are weighed, lugged and of course tasted! The Beemster® cheese team and the cheese girls are present every Friday to welcome you to the market. They hope to see you there!

Where and when?
The cheese market in Alkmaar takes place every Friday from April through September on the Waagplein from 10:00 - 13:00. In addition, in July and August, evening cheese markets are also held on Tuesday evenings from 19:00 - 21:00.

Beemster® cheese has been a proud sponsor of the cheese market in Edam for many years. The market, nowadays enlivened by the playing of an old Dutch barrel organ and especially by the tones of the Edam cheese chapel, is a huge tourist attraction. Not only for its own country, but also far beyond. There are 8 markets annually in July and August, as well as one evening market with an extensive fair.

The cheese market in Edam takes place every Wednesday in July and August at Jan Nieuwenhuizenplein from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
