Beemster cheese butterflies

Ingredients

  • 1 roll of fresh puff pastry
  • 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 50 g Beemster Old

Prepare

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Take the puff pastry from the package, roll out the dough and place it with the dough side down on the work surface. Pull off the baking paper and roll out the dough some more. Sprinkle the dough with black sesame seeds.
  2. Grate the Beemster Old, spread the cheese over the dough and press slightly. Roll up both long sides of the puff pastry toward the center. Wrap the rolled up dough in cling film and place in the freezer for 30 min.
  3. Remove from freezer and cut into 20 slices. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake the cheese butterflies for 12-15 min in the center of the oven until golden brown.

Serving tip

Serve these cheese butterflies along with a cocktail plate, such as this including Beemster X-O and a homemade onion chutney.
