Beemster cheese drives even more sustainable with new RMO truck!

Every day several RMOs (Riding Milk Receipt) drive around to collect milk from our Beemster farmers.
Now there is a sustainable new RMO that runs on Lng (liquid natural gas). This is expected to deliver a 20% CO2 reduction compared to diesel. In addition, the RMO combination also has an innovative trailer that is equipped with its own battery, which, among other things, is charged while driving. Pumping the milk from the farm's milk tank to the tanker truck is therefore no longer done with a running engine, but entirely on electricity from this battery. The noise level is well below 60 dB(A) (comparable to a coffee maker or electric toothbrush) and is whisper quiet. Extra nice for the sleep of our farmers, because milk collection happens 24/7, so also at night!

Preservation

Grietsje Hoekstra, manager of Sustainability at CONO Kaasmakers says of the new RMO: "We think it is important that our partners take steps in the area of sustainability and continue to encourage this. With this combination, Danmel transport contributes in general to the climate objectives of the transport sector, and in particular makes a positive contribution to the total footprint of our cheese."
